Short history of department
In the academic year 2017/2018, in order to train future personnel based on correspondence and evening education at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, there was established «The Correspondence course Department» and department was designated as the main responsible structure to organize correspondence education.
Department started its job based on decision 930 of Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, constituted on November 21, 2017 «The regulation of organizing correspondence (special correspondence course) and evening (shift) education at higher education institutions» the approval of the regulations“.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, the Correspondence Department was renamed “Evening and Correspondence Department” due to the fact that it included the form of evening education. During these years, more than 1500 students studied in 11 fields of study in the form of evening and correspondence education.
Current operation of the department
- From the 2024/2025 academic year, as a result of extensive reformations conducted at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Evening and Correspondence Department was reorginized, covering evening and correspondence education. The name of department was changed to «Department of Evening, Correspondence, and Distance Education» and it was structurally established under the faculty of „Applied Sciences“ of the university.
Currently, the department has the following forms of education:
- correspondence education, second and subsequent higher education;
- evening education, second and subsequent higher education;
Moreover, it is planned to organize distance education from the next academic year
In the 2024/2025 academic year, there are 11 educational fields in the evening education, where about 830 students are studying. Based on the possibilities of the material and technical base of the university, the admission process for evening education has been suspended from the current academic year. In the academic year 2024/2025, there are 12 majors in correspondence course, and about 1400 students are studying.
