TSUOS Professors Delivered Lectures at Saint Petersburg State University

On June 24–26, 2026, Professors Akram Karimov and Jasur Ziyamukhamedov, together with Associate Professor Lola Sultanova of the Higher School of Chinese Studies at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, delivered a series of lectures totaling four academic hours for first-, second-, and third-year students of the Faculty of Philology at Saint Petersburg State University (Russian Federation), which is ranked 390th in the QS World University Rankings.

The lectures covered the following topics:

“Specific Features of Translating Phraseological Units in Peng Xuejun’s Novel Daniao”;
“The Experience of Translating Abdullah Qodiriy’s Novel Bygone Days into Chinese”;
“Chinese Literature Studies in Uzbekistan: History and Current State”;
“Challenges in Translating Uzbek Fiction into Chinese: Based on Recent Translations”;
“Specific Features of Translating Lexical Units in Chinese Literary Works.”

During the lectures, students were introduced to the stages of the development of Chinese literary studies in Uzbekistan, the current state of Uzbek–Chinese literary relations, and the theoretical as well as practical issues involved in translating Uzbek literary works into Chinese. The sessions provided valuable academic and practical insights into contemporary translation studies and literary exchange between the two countries.
