On July 2-15, the student members of the Young Diplomats Club traveled to the St. Petersburg branch of the HSE to participate in the courses of the International Summer School. Our guys took courses in political science from the teachers of the St. Petersburg HSE, and also got acquainted with St. Petersburg and explored its sights during the cultural program. The courses were attended by students from many countries of the world, such as Venezuela, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Germany, Uzbekistan and Russia. The trip and training became for our children the first hardening of not only knowledge, but also the first international experience of communicating with their peers. The training in the thematic block: “Political Science and international relations” was conducted in both English and Russian. Andrey Starodubtsev’s course “Public Administration in the post-Soviet space” was included in the political science block. Students from China and Japan attended the lectures along with our students. The course was devoted to the political processes in the post-Soviet space, the society of these countries and the state structure. Along with the training, the course organizers conducted several trips and excursions around the city for our students: a trip to Peterhof, a walk on a river boat with a buffet, as well as a walk along the canals of St. Petersburg. At the end of the course, each student wrote a test paper in the form of an editorial column, choosing a topic related to the CIS countries at will. Sadulloeva Sabina 1st year student of the Faculty of Economics, Politics and Tourism of Eastern Countries I visited St. Petersburg to attend the courses “Public Administration in the post-Soviet space”. I can say that the courses were interesting, during the classes they discussed various reforms carried out after the collapse of the USSR and how public administration was conducted during crises. After each lesson, the teacher gave different homework assignments. At the end of the course, each student had to write an editorial column choosing one state from the post-Soviet space. During the weekend, we organized boat trips to Peterhof and along the canals of St. Petersburg. I really liked the courses and excursions that were organized. Everything was at the highest level. Abdurakhmanov Saidbek The HSE organized a walking tour of the main sights of St. Petersburg and an excursion to Peterhof. It was very beautiful there and we managed to feel the real weather of St. Petersburg, because the weather changed every 10 minutes. We got to Peterhof on the so-called “Meteors” along the Gulf of Finland, and we went back by bus and enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings. We really liked the trip on the ship, where we had a buffet reception, and we got an unforgettable experience. At the end of our course, the teacher asked us to write and defend an editorial column on any political topic. At the end of the summer school, we received certificates of completion of the course “Public Administration in the post-Soviet space”. Sabirkhodjaev Zukhriddin I would generally rate the trip positively, as I received a lot of joyful emotions: I enjoyed studying in this city, traveling, communicating with students from different parts of the world, and even sleeping. Our teacher Andrey Starodubtsev is a highly qualified specialist, knows how to find a common language with students and conducts classes in a very exciting way. He impressed me a lot. St. Petersburg is a beautiful city. The St. Petersburg summer is similar to the Tashkent spring. The first week was relatively cold, it often rained, but the second week turned out to be less rainy and quite warm. The city has an endless number of beautiful structures. First of all, I would mention the elder brother of the Capitol in Washington, St. Isaac’s Cathedral. In conclusion, I want to say that I rate the trip to the Northern capital of Russia positively. I will definitely come back here again. Koylybaev Islambek The trip to the summer school at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg in July was very successful. We were accommodated in a hostel, which was located next to the metro, which was very convenient for moving around the city. From the first day of studying at the courses “Public Administration in the post-Soviet space”, I really liked the methodology of our teacher Andrey Vladimirovich Starodubtsev. We have studied many theories related to the subject of Political Science, such as: regimes, ideologies, state structure, territorial structure and public administration. What I liked most about this course was that I learned how to work with statistics and apply it in practice when studying and analyzing any political course. A week before the end of the course, we were informed by our teacher that by the end of the course we should write an editorial column on a specific topic related to public administration. Accordingly, we were taught how to write it correctly. And as a result, on the last day of our training, we defended our columns, I had a column on the topic: Public Administration of N.A. Nazarbayev, the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We passed and defended our columns very successfully and were awarded an international certificate of completion of this course. By the end of my studies and stay in St. Petersburg, I had made new foreign friends and acquaintances from different parts of the world: From both the West and the East, for example, there were students from Venezuela, Ghana, Germany, China and Japan. Thanks to my command of English, it was easy for me to get to know students from the Higher School of Economics. Overall, the trip was very informative and interesting. Damir Alimdzhanov 3rd year of the Faculty of Chinese Studies, Department of Political Science I can say that the courses were quite interesting, during the classes various reforms, political regimes and state formations carried out and established after the collapse of the USSR were discussed. After each lesson, the teacher set various homework assignments. Several trips and walks around St. Petersburg and Peterhof were perfectly organized. In general, I quite liked the courses organized by the HSE (St. Petersburg branch). Everything was at a high level.
