DOCTORAL STUDIES
In accordance with the “Regulations on postgraduate education” approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017 No. 304 “On measures to further improve the system of postgraduate education”, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies trains highly qualified scientific personnel on the basis of doctoral studies, basic doctorates and independent research

The basic requirements for the admission to the doctorate
“Admission to doctoral, post-doctoral, and independent research programs at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies is carried out through the daraja.ilmiy.uz platform.
Applicants for doctoral, post-doctoral, and independent research programs, including those with a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD specialization, must align with the relevant field of postgraduate education. If the specializations do not match, or if postgraduate education is planned in related fields of science, applicants must take additional exams as specified by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) and the Committee for Coordination of the Development of Science and Technology.”
Applicants for basic doctorate (Ph.D) should have:
- Master’s degree or diploma of higher education (specialty programs);
- scientific results, including at least one scientific article published in a scientific journal, and at least two abstracts included to the proceedings of scientific conference on the relevant scientific themes that can form the basis of the Ph.D. thesis.
Applicants for training in basic doctorate (Ph.D) submit the following documents to the admission committee:
- statement;
- CV;
- a copy of the work book, certified in accordance with the established procedure (for working candidates);
- a copy of the Master’s degree or a diploma of higher education (specialty programs);
- list of published scientific works, as well as their copies.
- Holders of the State Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan present a copy of the relevant document.
Applicants for enrolling to the doctorate (D.Sc) should have:
- Ph.D., Ph.D. or other equivalent degrees received in foreign countries;
- achieved significant scientific achievements after obtaining a Ph.D. or Ph.D. degree or other equivalent degrees received in foreign countries, including at least three scientific articles published in scientific journals and at least two theses in collections of scientific and scientific-practical conferences, in other collections of scientific papers on the relevant scientific areas, which can form the basis of the dissertation research for the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc).
Candidates for doctorate (D.Sc) submit the following documents to the admission committee:
- statement;
- CV;
- a copy of the workbook, certified in accordance with the established procedure (for working bidders);
- a copy of the diploma of higher education, Ph.D., or Ph.D. or other equivalent degrees received abroad;
- a scientific report on the research topic and a detailed draft of the dissertation plan for the degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc);
- list of published scientific works, as well as their copies.
In order to become an independent Ph.D student applicants should have:
- master’s degree or a diploma of higher education (by specialty);
- certain scientific publications;
- scientific and pedagogical experience of work not less than two years or having certain scientific achievements (patents for inventions or author’s certificates).
As an independent doctorate student (DSc), the following persons are registered:
- having a Ph.D. or Ph.D., or other equivalent degrees received in foreign countries,
- achieved significant scientific achievements after obtaining a scientific degree in accordance with established requirements.
The applicant for independent competition submits the following documents to the admission committee:
- statement;
- CV;
- a copy of the master’s or a diploma of higher education (under specialty programs) – for the designation as an independent applicant of the Ph.D.
- a copy of the work record card, certified in accordance with the established procedure;
- list of scientific works and their copies;
- a copy of the Ph.D. or Ph.D. diploma or other equivalent degrees obtained abroad – for the designation as an independent applicant of the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc);
- characteristic from the place of work.
To ensure transparency and fairness in the doctoral admission exams and interview processes:
The admissions committee will conduct the doctoral entrance exams and interviews under video surveillance (online streaming) and organize the process on the ZOOM platform. Measures will be taken to ensure continuous video monitoring and to prevent technical malfunctions.
