New projects were discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea.

On March 3, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Elyor Makhmudov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kang Jae Kwon.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of the Embassy and discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between TSUOS and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and higher education institutions.

Kang Ji Kwon highly appreciated the educational, scientific and cultural activities carried out at the Faculty of Korean Studies, which was organized at TSUOS in 2018, noting that this faculty contributes to strengthening cooperation between our countries. At the same time, on behalf of the embassy, in his own person, he expressed readiness to further promote the development of Korean studies.

Since October 2020, at the initiative of TSUOS, the Embassy of Korea has been implementing the Team Korea project. During the meeting, it was noted that the project, which includes 27 lectures by embassy diplomats, representatives of Korean organizations and companies, is useful and interesting for Korean students.

During the meeting, a proposal was made to hold a joint international week of Korean studies at TSUOS. Within the framework of the week, there will be scientific forums of Korean scientists, as well as Uzbek and Korean students, a series of online lectures on Korean studies, which will be read by professors and teachers of partner universities from the Republic of Korea, an oratory competition in Korean, a quiz “Do you know Korea? “, Korean calligraphy competition, art performances based on Korean literature.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to involve a professor of economics from the Republic of Korea at TSUOS in offline education, to provide special scholarships for talented and low-income students of Korean studies.
