Staff and Student Hunger Interventions at TSUOS

Objective

To ensure that students and staff at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies have access to affordable, nutritious and diverse food options, while providing targeted support to members of the university community experiencing financial difficulties or food insecurity.

 

Key Interventions

 

  1. Affordable and Diverse Food Options
    The TSUOS café provides students and staff with a wide range of hot and affordable meals. The menu includes traditional Uzbek dishes, soups, main courses, side dishes, salads and dairy products, allowing members of the university community to choose meals according to their preferences and available budget.

 

  1. Meal Support During University Events and Holidays
    TSUOS provides food support to members of the university community during major university celebrations and holiday-related activities, ensuring that participants have access to meals and refreshments.

  1. Financial Assistance for Students in Need
    The University’s Trade Union provides financial assistance to students and staff experiencing financial difficulties, contributing to their ability to meet essential needs, including food and daily living expenses.

 

  1. Student-Led Charity Initiatives
    Students are encouraged to organise charitable initiatives aimed at supporting individuals and families in need. These initiatives promote solidarity within the university community and contribute to addressing food and other essential needs.

 

  1. Partnerships with Food Providers
    TSUOS cooperates with food service providers and other relevant entities to support the availability and accessibility of food services for members of the university community.

 

  1. Healthy Eating Awareness
    University professors and staff organise seminars, lectures and other educational activities addressing healthy eating and related well-being issues at national and international levels. These activities contribute to raising awareness of balanced nutrition among students and staff.
