The Third World Conference of Sinologists brought together leading sinologists, researchers, academics, and experts from nearly 30 countries and became one of the largest international platforms for discussing current issues in global Sinology, international Chinese language education, and intercultural dialogue.

The conference program included a wide range of academic, cultural, and educational activities in Beijing, Dunhuang, and Changsha. Participants attended plenary sessions, thematic panels, academic discussions, meetings with representatives of scholarly institutions and publishing organizations, as well as events aimed at strengthening international cooperation in Sinological studies.

A significant part of the conference program was the Beijing Humanities Forum, held on May 31, 2026, at Beijing Language and Culture University. The forum focused on the development of global Sinological discourse and mutual learning among civilizations. It brought together prominent sinologists, university leaders, directors of research centers, and representatives of international academic organizations. Discussions addressed the development of global Sinology, cultural diplomacy, intercultural dialogue, international Chinese language education, and contemporary humanities research.

Within the framework of the forum, Sayyora Nazarova participated as an official speaker in Parallel Session No. 3, “Digital Integration and Global Chinese Language Education.” The session gathered scholars and educators from China, Italy, Armenia, Cambodia, Laos, North Macedonia, Belarus, and other countries. Discussions focused on current trends in international Chinese language education, the integration of digital technologies into teaching and learning, intercultural communication, and the preparation of future specialists in the context of globalization.

During the session, Sayyora Nazarova delivered a presentation entitled “Developing Intercultural Communicative Competence through Cognitive-Discursive Chinese Language Teaching.” The presentation highlighted the results of research on innovative approaches to fostering intercultural competence among students learning Chinese as a foreign language. Particular attention was paid to the application of the cognitive-discursive approach and its role in preparing professionals capable of effective interaction in international academic and professional environments.

Conference participants also took part in the Meeting of the World Sinology Development Coordination Council, held in Beijing prior to the official opening of the Third World Conference of Sinologists in Dunhuang. The meeting focused on new models of global cooperation among sinologists, the establishment of international research networks, the enhancement of academic collaboration, and the training of young scholars. Special attention was devoted to the launch of three key mechanisms supporting the development of global Sinology and to the creation of a comprehensive system of cooperation among Sinology centers worldwide.

On June 3, 2026, the official opening ceremony of the Third World Conference of Sinologists took place in Dunhuang. The ceremony brought together leading scholars and experts from around the world and outlined the major directions for future international cooperation in Sinological studies, emphasizing the importance of intercultural dialogue and humanitarian exchange in today’s global context.

On the same day, participants attended the Sinologists’ Workshop and Publishing Networking Session on International Academic Cooperation. Discussions focused on academic publishing, translation activities, the development of joint publishing projects, and the expansion of collaboration among research institutions and universities from different countries. The event brought together approximately 70 sinologists and more than 30 representatives of publishing houses and academic institutions.

An important component of the conference was a series of academic and cultural activities aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of China’s historical and cultural heritage. In Dunhuang, participants visited historical and cultural sites associated with the ancient Silk Road and took part in discussions on cultural heritage preservation and intercultural dialogue.

The final stage of the conference program took place in Hunan Province. One of the highlights was a visit to Yuelu Academy, one of China’s oldest educational institutions with a history spanning more than a thousand years. An international discussion was held there on cultural heritage, educational traditions, and the role of the humanities in fostering mutual understanding among nations. Sinologists from nearly 30 countries exchanged views on the future development of global Sinology, intercultural dialogue, and international humanitarian cooperation.

As part of the Hunan program, participants also visited a number of historical and memorial sites associated with the life and legacy of Mao Zedong. The delegation toured the educational institution where Mao studied and later worked as a teacher. Participants also visited memorial complexes and monuments dedicated to Mao Zedong, his birthplace in Shaoshan Village, and the Mao Zedong Memorial Museum. These visits provided valuable insights into modern Chinese history and the rich cultural heritage of Hunan Province.

The activities of the Third World Conference of Sinologists received extensive coverage in Chinese media. Reports on plenary sessions, academic forums, international discussions, and cultural events were widely published by national and regional media outlets. Particular attention was paid to the participation of international sinologists and their contribution to the development of global academic cooperation.
