The Department for International Rankings is a structural unit of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The department coordinates the cooperation activities of the university and its constituent units, professors, teachers, and employees with organizations that publish international rankings.

In the implementation of its activities, the department cooperates with all structural units, faculties, departments of the university, as well as foreign higher education institutions, organizations and centres.

Functional tasks of the department head:

  • establish cooperation with organizations that publish international rankings and work continuously;
  • develops a program for the development of the department for working with international rankings;
  • ensures control of international ranking indicators;
  • the university constantly monitors the parameters affecting the international ranking indicators;
  • protects and implements the interests of the department in matters of participation in international rankings at the meetings of the Council of the higher educational institution, in the rectorate, faculties and departments;
  • ensures interaction of the international rating department with other structures of the higher education institution.

Tasks and functions of the department

The department performs the following tasks:

  • develops cooperation on based agreements with organizations that publish international rankings and define its main directions;
  • makes appropriate proposals to the university’s vice-rector for international cooperation on raising the university’s international ranking;
  • cooperates with organizations and ranking agencies that publish international rankings, helps to the university faculties, departments and divisions to implement projects;
  • conducts foreign trips according to international rankings based on current regulatory documents;
  • prepares quarterly, half-yearly, nine-monthly and one-year reports on the university’s cooperation with organizations that publish international rankings and submits them to the monitoring department of the university after approval by the university management and presents them to relevant organizations and agencies;
  • in order to strengthen the material and scientific-technical base of the university, it participates in the attraction of loans from international financial institutions and free aid and grants from donor organizations;
  • within the department’s activities, organizing activities in other areas related to raising the international ranking of the University, reviewing relevant documents and preparing proposals.

The department performs the following functions in order to fulfil the tasks assigned to it:

  • to work directly with organizations that publish international rankings, ranking agencies, local and international experts, consultants and specialists;
  • invitation to the University of organizations publishing international rankings, ranking agencies, local and international experts, consultants and specialists, as well as organizing and ensuring the participation of University specialists in international forums and conferences and execution of relevant documents;
  • implementation of the university’s entry into the TOP 1000 of the internationally recognized QS and THE World University Rankings;
  • summarizing and coordinating information related to raising the international ranking of the university, determining and controlling the university’s share in the international ranking in terms of faculties and departments;
  • constant monitoring of the parameters affecting the university’s international ranking indicators and introducing the requirements of the international ranking system to the university’s management, faculty, departments and department staff on their status.
