JAPANESE PHILOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Department of Japanese Philology was established in 1992, it was the first educational institution to teach Japanese language not only in Uzbekistan, but also in entire Central Asia.

Over the years, more than 2000 staffs have been trained in Japanese. At present, these undergraduates are working in all spheres of our country related to Japan.

For many years, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies in Uzbekistan has made an invaluable contribution to strengthen bilateral relations with Japan, in particular, in the development of Japanese language teaching. TSIOS promotes the initiative to organize various international conferences with the participation of professors and teachers of higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as strives to develop the process of information, education and exchange of experience between students and professors of our country.

The department prepares undergraduate students with B2 level and graduate students in master degree with C1 level in CEFR.

SCIENTIFIC  ACTIVITY  OF  THE DEPARTMENT

Chair’s scientific activity includes these departures:

  • Theory and practice of orient lexicography: historical periods, principles of fprming dictionaries and current dictionaries;
  • Terminology system of Japanese language: historical processes, problems of forming and developing of current scientific-technical terms;
  • Current language condition in Japan: literary language and dialects; language methods; globalization and inter impact problems;
  • Semantics of  and semasiology problems Japanese language;
  • Problems of comparative analysis of Uzbek and Japanese languages;
  • Studying theoretical and practical problems in scientific and literary texts’ translation;
  • Studying grammatical, sociolinguistical, lingocultural, progmalinguistical, kognitive and communicative aspects of Japanese language
  • Questions of intercultural communication.
